Since I had this gift certificate to use at the yarn store, I decided to knit myself a shawl. I bought myself some beautiful yarn. Well they call it yarn but it may be left over fiber optic material or angel hair.![]()
The netting is holding the yarn together otherwise it will just slip into a clump.
Oooooo. Fun. This is the pattern I chose:
OH MY GOODNESS!!! What the hell was I thinking? I have done 8 rows maybe and only 3 of those are in pattern. I had to do the first pattern row 3 times. THEN there is this stitch where I have to knit one, yarn over, knit one, yarn over, knit one all in one stitch. Then on the back side all 5 of these stitches have to be purled together. Holy crap. I need to switch to wooden needles. The silk is just slipping to easily except when I am trying to get my needle into all 5 of these stitches. I named this "I'm Going to France" because my plan is to carry this and to casually pull it out of my big red bag when I am a bit chilly. NO WAY is this going to happen. Once when J was a tot she fell asleep at a restaurant. It was a bit cold so I covered her with a napkin. She was tiny and it covered her well. I accidentally took it home with her. I may be packing this with me. A napkin. It will not cover me, but maybe if I get to enough restaurants that use cloth napkins I can sew them together and make a stole. Maybe I will just carry a bath towel or socks.
